Word of Yasa’s sudden ordination spreads rapidly through his social circles, surprising his peers. First, four of his closest wealthy friends from prominent families visit him and the Buddha. Upon receiving the Buddha’s progressive teachings, they join the Sangha and achieve full liberation. Soon after, fifty more householder friends from the countryside follow their example, receive ordination, and likewise become Arahants, expanding the early community of liberated monastics.
