In Chiang Mai’s wilderness, Ajahn Mun launched his final assault on ignorance, resolving to win or die. Investigating dependent origination through the night, wielding supreme-mindfulness and supreme-wisdom, at 3 a.m. ignorance perished and the universe trembled. He attained Arahantship—the mind making three revolutions: cutting off, absolute freedom, total detachment. Initially disinclined to teach, he reconsidered the Buddha’s example, resolving to help those receptive.
