In The Records of a Weather-Exposed Skeleton (Nozarashi Kikō), Matsuo Bashō travels across 17th-century Japan. Departing Edo, he journeys through mist, rain, and mountains—crossing Hakone, Ise, and Yoshino—while reflecting on impermanence, loss, and nature’s quiet power.
