Vimalamitra was an 8th-century Indian master who played a crucial role in bringing the Deepest Essence of the Great Perfection (Dzogchen) to Tibet. Invited by King Trisong Detsen, he worked alongside Padmasambhava and Vairocana to translate essential tantric texts. His legacy, the Vima Nyingtig, remains one of the most profound instruction sets in the Nyingma tradition. He is said to have achieved the rainbow body and promised to reappear in Tibet every century.
