King Ralpachen (806–838) was the most devout of the three Dharma Kings, legendary for his extreme piety—he reportedly tied ribbons to his long hair so monks could sit on them. He standardized Tibetan translations through the Mahāvyutpatti dictionary, ensuring consistency across all Buddhist texts. However, his heavy taxation to support the clergy led to a political backlash. He was eventually assassinated by his brother, Langdarma, marking a temporary end to the Tibetan Empire.
