Dharmakṣema (Central India)
high-definition creative commons posters depicting The Story about Dharmakṣema (Central India) together with further information.
A Central Indian monk, Dharmakşema was a master of Mahāyāna scriptures and dhāraṇīs. He traveled to the Northern Liang kingdom, where he spent years translating the monumental Mahāparinirvāna-sūtra, which introduced the concept of the universal Buddha-nature to China. Despite his immense contributions to Buddhist philosophy, his life ended tragically; he was assassinated by the ruler Juqu Mengxun while attempting to travel west to find the remaining portions of the Nirvāna scripture.
