4: Emotions and Meditation

high-definition creative commons posters depicting Emotions and Meditation from the Gentle Way together with further information.

The focus shifts to Vipassanā or insight. Participants are encouraged to see the changing nature (impermanence) of their thoughts and sensations. By seeing that everything arises and passes away, the tendency to cling or resist is weakened. This realization brings a sense of lightness and freedom, as the meditator stops taking their mental dramas so personally and seriously.
