In Benares, Kāsi, a wise Bodhisatta and a foolish merchant led separate caravans across a Waterless Desert. Tricked by a Yakkha pretending rain was ahead, the fool discarded his water, leading his men to be devoured. The Bodhisatta recognized the demon’s trickery, preserved his water, and safely navigated the wilderness. He salvaged the first caravan’s abandoned goods, returning home with great wealth and all his men.
