Prince Mahiṁsāsa and his brothers, Candakumāra and Sūriyakumāra, fled to the Himālayas to escape their stepmother’s schemes. At a pool, a Water Rakkhasa captured the younger princes for failing to define the true Deva-nature. Mahiṁsāsa, the Bodhisatta, confronted the monster. He explained that true Deva-nature belongs to those endowed with conscience, concern, and virtue. Consequently, the Bodhisatta shared this sacred wisdom with the monster to secure his trapped brothers’ freedom.
