A brahmin prepares a sacrificial goat for sacrifice. The goat laughs, knowing its five-hundredth birth of decapitation for killing a goat is finally ending, but weeps for the brahmin’s own future penalty. Despite the brahmin’s promised protection, a lightning bolt-struck rock beheads the creature. The Bodhisatta appears, teaching the Dhamma: Those understanding the intense suffering caused by killing living beings would never slay another.
