On the slopes of the Himālayas, a partridge, monkey, and elephant sought to establish order by determining who was oldest. The elephant remembered the banyan tree as a bush, while the monkey recalled it as tiny. The partridge proved seniority by revealing he planted the tree from a seed. Following his counsel and the Precepts, they attained rebirth in heaven, illustrating why monks must honour elders as skilled in Dhamma.
