After tricking three Taoist immortals into drinking urine disguised as holy water, the pilgrims Monkey, Pigsy, and Sandy escape safely back to Tripitaka. At court the next morning, the furious Taoists accuse them of this humiliation. To settle the matter, the king commands a competitive rain-making duel for their survival. While the Taoists fail completely, Monkey magically produces a massive storm and summons four dragon kings to prove their triumph.

This contrasts the vanity of external attachment with the power of inner realization. The Taoist immortals rely on flashy, ego-driven rituals, tablets, and demands for credit. In contrast, Tripitaka quietly recites the Heart Sutra, achieving success through mental composure and spiritual discipline. This demonstrates that true magical power and worldly harmony flow from stillness and selflessness, exposing superficial, prideful sorcery as empty illusion.
