To establish his sovereignty, Yudhishthira performs the Rajasuya sacrifice. This grand ritual requires the Pandavas to conquer or receive tribute from all surrounding kingdoms. Krishna assists in the slaying of the tyrant Jarasandha, clearing the path for the ceremony. While the sacrifice marks the pinnacle of Pandava power and prosperity in their new capital, Indraprastha, it also fuels the intense envy and resentment of their cousin Duryodhana.
