Maṇimēkhalai uses the magical bowl to feed the suffering prisoners in the state prison, moving the Cōḻa king to inspect the facility. She advises him to convert the prison into a house of charity, which he agrees to do. Later, the prince finds Maṇimēkhalai, who has taken the form of Kāyaśaṇḍikai to escape his advances. The jealous husband of the real woman mistakes the prince for a rival and kills him.
