06 Initiation Under Lama Marpa

high-definition creative commons posters depicting Initiation Under Lama Marpa from The Life of Milarepa together with further information.

Lama Marpa invites Milarepa as the chief guest of honour after testing him through severe trials. Marpa explains that his harsh discipline was designed to purify negative deeds, wear down self-importance, and lead him toward enlightenment. Filled with joy, Milarepa receives lay vows, secret names, and the Cakrasaṃvara mandala initiation. Marpa interprets auspicious omens, bestows essential oral instructions, and predicts that Milarepa’s spiritual lineage will expand like the waxing moon.
