07 Realisations

high-definition creative commons posters depicting Realisations from The Life of Milarepa together with further information.

Milarepa completes eleven months of solitary meditation before presenting his spiritual realisations in song to his master, Marpa, and Dakmema. Prompted by a ḍākinī’s vision, Marpa travels to India to obtain special Transference instructions from Nāropa. Afterwards, Milarepa recounts a dream of four pillars, which Marpa interprets as the future spread of Kagyu teachings through his four main disciples. Marpa then assigns specific lineage instructions and gifts to each disciple.
