1. Nāgārjuna

Born in Vidarbha to a rich Brāhmaņa, Nāgārjuna was prophecied to die young but extended his life by ordaining at Nalanda and reciting Amitāyus magic formulas. As Nalanda's verger, he used alchemy to feed monks during a famine, leading to a temporary exile where he built countless sanctuaries. He later obtained advanced magical powers, defeated heretics, and recovered sacred texts from the Nāgas.
