A merchant leaves iron with a friend, who later claims rats ate it. To teach him a lesson, the merchant hides the friend’s son and claims a hawk carried the boy away. When the friend calls this impossible, the merchant retorts that in a land where rats eat iron, hawks can certainly carry away children. The friend returns the iron immediately.
