Prince Saṅkhapatta, the Bodhisatta, traveled to marry Princess Ratanavatī. When a storm wrecked his ship, his selfless generosity led him to give passengers his survival planks, swimming ashore alone. A greedy brahman he rescued later gouged out the sleeping prince’s eyes to steal a ring. Saved by foresters, Saṅkhapatta reunited with Ratanavatī. Through solemn acts of truth, both his eyes and his blinded attacker’s sight were miraculously and fully restored.
