high-definition creative commons posters depicting King Mahāsūrasena from Fifty Lannā Jātaka Stories together with further information.
King Mahāsūrasena of Bārāṇasī, seeking supreme enlightenment through internal charity, wished to give his own body. To fulfill his noble aspiration, Sakka appeared disguised as a headless youth and requested the king’s head. Unwavering in his pursuit of Buddhahood, Mahāsūrasena cut off his head and presented it. Moved by this ultimate sacrifice, Sakka revealed himself, restored the righteous king to life, and praised his perfect generosity before returning to heaven.
