29 King Brahmaghosa

high-definition creative commons posters depicting King Brahmaghosa from Fifty Lannā Jātaka Stories together with further information.

Righteous King Brahmaghosa of Kusumapura and Queen Nandā piously served Lord Padumuttara Buddha and his Saṅgha. To test the king’s virtue, Sakka descended with Mātali, disguised as a terrifying, hungry dog and keeper. When Sakka advocated unrighteousness, the Bodhisatta fearlessly rejected his false words and defended the Dhamma. Delighted, Sakka revealed his celestial form, praised the king’s boundless merit, and prophesied his ultimate attainment of future Buddhahood.
