11 King Nandiya
high-definition creative commons posters depicting King Nandiya Story from the Rasavāhiṇī (Heart Streams) together with further information.
After witnessing Monk Vasabha’s asceticism, a householder aspired to excel in dhutaṅga. Later, as Nandiya, he offered a border cloth to a Paccekabuddha. This merit led him to be miraculously chosen as King of Bārāṇasī, where he manifested sixty-four wish-fulfilling trees (kapparukkhā). After supporting five hundred Paccekabuddhas and renouncing his throne, he was eventually reborn as Mahākassapa Thera, the Buddha’s foremost ascetic disciple. He perfected his merit through sincere giving.
