In the era of Kassapa Buddha, a man earned merit through almsgiving. Reborn as Visamalomakumāra, son of King Dhammāsoka, he possessed supernatural strength. He swam across the fierce Candabhāgā River, slaying hundreds of crocodiles. Though later imprisoned by his fearful royal father, he passed a test by slicing iron-filled bamboo bundles. His incredible power stemmed from past virtues. Ultimately, he became sub-king and continued performing various pious meritorious deeds faithfully.
