A traveler crossing the Candabhāgā river gives water to a suffering pregnant woman whom others ignore. Later, in her city, he is wrongly accused of theft and sentenced to death. Recognizing her benefactor, the woman offers herself and her seven sons as slaves to the King to ransom him. Moved by her gratitude and dhamma, the King honors them both with prosperity and heavenly status after they eventually pass away.
