14 Hard Trials
high-definition creative commons posters depicting Hard Trials from Seven Taoist Masters together with further information.
Ch’iu Ch’ang-ch’un begs rice and bread for Wang Ch’ung-yang, who repeatedly refuses his food and rebukes him to temper the youngest disciple. When the disciples warm themselves by a fire, Wang bolts them out in the snow; circulating internal energy keeps them warm till dawn. Sentenced to a hundred strokes for taking the blame, Ch’iu is spared when the others plead. Wang abandons the southern journey and returns to Ning-hai.
