20 In a Brothel
high-definition creative commons posters depicting In a Brothel from Seven Taoist Masters together with further information.
As jeweler Ch’ang Sheng-tzu, Liu Ch’ang-sheng passes a year in a Su-hang brothel, unmoved by Madam Yü, boiling tea and baking cakes on his tan-t’ien. Bodhidharma, seeing a purple cloud, probes his coming and going, then departs. Wang Yü-yang fans candles to flame; Liu sends him south, saying, ‘I shall leave when I leave,’ then ascends after three years in the eastern mountains. Wang Yü-yang and T’an attain the Tao.
