15 Visākhā and Her Boons

high-definition creative commons posters depicting Visākhā and Her Boons from Stories from the Vinayapiṭaka together with further information.

Visākhā invites the Buddha and his monks for a meal during a heavy rainstorm. When her slave misinterprets monks bathing in the rain as naked ascetics, Visākhā realizes the need for proper attire. After miraculously arriving dry to eat, the Buddha grants Visākhā eight lifelong boons, allowing her to provide rain cloths, various meals, medicines, gruel, and bathing cloths for nuns to support the Sangha.
