The monk Sudhammo jealously resents that the householder Citta invited elder monks without consulting him. He visits Citta’s house, jeers at him, and departs for Sāvatthī to report the matter. The Buddha rebukes Sudhammo for scoffing at a faithful supporter and instructs the Community to perform a legal act of reconciliation, requiring him to ask forgiveness from Citta.
