The monk Channa commits an offence but refuses to make amends. Monks report this to the Buddha, who questions Channa and rebukes him. The Buddha then instructs the Community to perform a legal act of suspension on Channa for not making amends—non-eating with the Community. He directs that this be announced from residence to residence.
