Monks initially live in forests, tree roots, and open air. A millionaire of Rājagaha, impressed by their deportment, wishes to build dwellings. The Buddha allows five kinds of rock cells. The millionaire builds sixty dwellings in one day and donates them to the Saṅgha of the four directions. The Buddha gives thanks, praising the gift of dwellings as the highest gift, leading to Nibbāna.
