Source of the Stories

These storybooks chronicle the life of the Venerable Ajahn Mun Bhūridatta Thera (1870–1949), a vipassanā meditation master of the highest caliber and one of the most revered figures in Thai Buddhist history. From his birth in Ubon Ratchathani and ordination in 1893, through years of solitary wandering in the forests and mountains of Thailand and Laos, to his final attainment of Arahantship and his passing at Sakon Nakhon, the narrative traces a life of unwavering resolve. Compiled by Ajahn Mahā Boowa, a close disciple, it recounts his struggles without a teacher, his encounters with devas, ghosts, nāgas, and Arahants, his profound Dhamma teachings, and the miraculous relics that remained after his cremation, offering readers an inspiring testament to the power of diligent practice.
